"Convergence in this instance is defined as the interlinking of computing and other information technologies, media content and communication networks that have arisen as the result of the evolution and popularisation of the Internet as well as the activities, products and services that have emerged in the digital media space."
Wikipedia

Convergence is one of those buzz words we hear a lot of. Generally the term is used to describe the convergence of all the media channels available. Video, audio, web, television, mobile, all these channels are coming together. Watching a FRONTLINE episode from two years ago on Netlfix using your Wii - that's convergence.

There is also another convergence, specifically in the IT realm, in the small business world. By using Google apps small businesses, even large ones, can handle what was once only in the world of IT or IT consultants. As things became easier and cheaper (free), the convergence results in the morphing and sometimes clashing of IT people with web developers. The space is shrinking. Google Apps can give you the power of robust email capabilities, spam filters, backup space, collaborative networks and even Customer Relationship Management. The convergence is seen with Zoho Projects, a free addon in Google Apps, where you can have a sophisticated CRM tool. No- it is NOT Salesforce, however if I was Salesforce I'd pay close attention.

With our client Ergenomics we were able to set up a CRM system for 3 users without any fees to Google or Zoho. They were able to manage and record all contacts, leads, and calls, the stage in the business development process, and it even has the power to send out targeted and filtered email campaigns.

Check out the video from Zoho CRM.

Embudai is an ancient Japanese word that means the entire world system within which we live. You could think of it as the universe. We (the universal “we”) have the potential to communicate in our universe many more ways than before recorded history. The Internet and World Wide Web has affected our consciousness. We (the company Embudai) look at it on this level and help you travel and direct your ship, whether you’re one or many.
